Children's Department Frequently Asked Questions

There is no age requirement for a Northborough library card. Your child just has to be born!
Children ages 10 and above may be at the library without a parent or guardian.
At this time, there are no current volunteer opportunities. We encourage you to complete and submit a Volunteer Application. We will reach out when we identify a need.
The Children's Department offers so much more than just books! Some of our unique collections include:
•Video games for the Switch, Playstation, XBox, Nintendo DS and 3DS, Wii and Wii U.
•Puzzles and board games
Wonderbooks- print books with an attached audio device
Playaway Audiobooks- small devices loaded with audiobooks. Plug in headphones or an aux cord and go!
Launchpads- Pre-loaded tablets with educational books and games
•Movies and music
Discovery Kits and Brain Building Backpacks
•Orion Starblast Telescope
•Magazines
•Leveled Reader Kits

You can have up to 50 items out on your library account at one time.
Your PIN defaults to the last 4 digits of your phone number. If that doesn't work, contact a service desk for help.
Yes! If you log in to your library account online, you can search for your item throughout all of Central and Western Massachusetts as part of our C/WMARS system. OR, you can visit the library or give a service desk a call and we can request it for you. Libraries that have the requested item will ship it to Northborough through our delivery service. When it arrives, you will get an automated email letting you know it is ready for pickup.

Yes! We take donations of craft supplies, gently used books and media, coloring books, school supplies, puzzles and games. If we cannot use them in the department, we always give them back either to our Friends group to sell at their book sales, or to the community! Call or email nobokids@cwmars.org with any questions.
