Welcome to Winter Reading 2026: Reading Dragons!

Dragon Season

Dragon eggs have been found everywhere! Those in grades K - 5 have a new duty this winter: to raise their new dragon between January 26, 2026 and March 20, 2026. Dragon season will end on March 31, so collect all your dragon cards by then.

Raising Dragons

For every hour that you read, your dragon will evolve to its next stage (from egg to baby to teen to adult). Once you’ve raised your dragon to adulthood, choose a new dragon egg to raise! To get your dragon cards, visit the Children’s Desk at the Northborough Free Library. You will receive a special pouch to store your cards; make sure to bring your pouch every time you visit!

Logging Your Reading

To log and receive dragons, raffle tickets, and other prizes for your winter reading, track your reading minutes on our Beanstack website: www.northboroughlibrary.beanstack.com or in the Beanstack Tracker app. Download via the app store.

Raffle Prizes

For every hour you read, you earn a digital raffle ticket. Earn an extra ticket for each NCBA book you read. Enter your tickets into Beanstack by Thursday, March 19 by 11:59 pm. The winners will be announced at our wrap-up party on Friday, March 20th!

Honor Roll

Dragon trainers that raise all six adult dragons will receive a certificate, a prize from our Treasure Chest, and will add their name to the
Wall of Honor!

BONUS CHALLENGE: LEGACY LEVELS!

Already collected and raised all six dragons? Any extra hours of reading can be used to add a bonus level to your existing cards! This will make them stronger in dragon duels. (Game details provided on back.) Each dragon can hold up to three legacy levels.
