Friends of the Northborough Library have become part of the Amazon Smile program. Amazon Smile is simple easy way for you to raise money for your favorite charity. Here’s how you can raise money for the Northborough Library whenever you make a purchase on Amazon. Go to the website smile.amazon.com. The first time you visit, it will ask you which charity you would like to support, type in "Friends of the Northborough Library.” Then change the Amazon button on your browser to an Amazon Smile button, so that whenever you enter Amazon you are doing it through the smile.amazon.com website. About 0.5% of the purchase price of everything you buy on Amazon will go to support the library.
The Friends’ money flows to the library in many ways: it purchases many of the museum passes available to patrons; it supports the summer reading programs for children, teens and adults; it finances three library pages who shelve books; it pays for the library website, and much more.
Please help support the Northborough Library by participating in this program.

The Library Trustees and Friends
Founded in the 1970's, the Friends are an active part of the Northborough Library. The Friends sponsor programs and make purchases that cannot be covered by the town budget.
Over the past years, the Friends have sponsored an annual Basket Raffle and a number of used book sales as our primary fundraising activities. In 2003, we joined with the Northborough Historical Society to present a cemetery tour featuring actors playing the parts of long-ago residents of the town. We participated in the annual Applefest event in Northborough. The Friends have hosted legislative breakfasts that bring together our local state legislators and those involved in library issues.
Donations to the Northborough Free Library
Purchases for the Library vary from year to year as needs arise. The Friends have paid for computers, a digital camera, a refrigerator, and staff room furniture, among other items. There are also a number of museum passes that are covered by the Friends. Since the 2009 expansion of the library opened, the Friends have paid for all library pages who shelve books and assist librarians. The summer reading program, which typically enrolls about a thousand local children, receives our support, and there are special events, such as Black History Month programs, that we also funded.
