Come read to Kodiak,  a Bernese Mountain dog who is specifically trained to help kids practice reading out loud. Kodiak is very gentle and a good listener! Reading to this special dog improves a child's reading and communication skills. So bring a book from home or choose one from the Children's Room.

For children who are practicing reading on their own. This is a 15 minute time slot.

Registration is required and ongoing. Must register for at least 3 out of 4 Saturdays.

Join acclaimed author, poet, and storyteller Larry Spotted Crow Mann as he discusses his groundbreaking book, The Mourning Road to Thanksgiving: the epic journey of a Native American man to heal himself and Native Americans everywhere while coming to terms with his own pain. This story reveals the healing spirit within all of humankind.

In addition to discussing his book, Spotted Crow will be giving a presentation on the history of the Nipmuc People--a Native American tribe whose ancestral lands encompass Northborough--and performing authentic Nipmuc storytelling and drumming.

This program includes reading, telling stories, conversation and lecture, tips and tricks, reading demonstrations, and stories. The goal is to give parents basic tools to feel more comfortable telling stories to their children and to offer teachers other ideas and tips for adding depth to their work.

This program is open to parents (feel free to come as a family), teachers, caregivers, adult education and literacy professionals, or anyone interested in becoming a better storyteller.
