English Conversation Circles are one hour informal group meetings for adults who want to improve their conversational English. In the meetings we will:
Some examples of practical, everyday conversations may be life and customs in the United States, current events, day-to-day experiences in your life with family and friends, and things to do in Northborough. We will not talk about academic topics or work through formal language exercises.
No registration or sign-up! Just show up!
In the Library
We have books, CDs, and DVDs to help you with learning English. This list is an example of some of the things that you can check out from the Northborough library. Please see a librarian if you need help finding these materials or getting a library card. We can also get you books, CDs and DVDs from other libraries.
The Library subscribes to an online language learning tool called Rosetta Stone. You can access Rosetta Stone from the public internet computers on the second floor of the Library. Rosetta Stone is also available to Northborough residents from your home computer. To use Rosetta Stone at home you will need an internet-connected computer or device with audio capability, and a valid library card.
The Shrewsbury and Marlborough Libraries also hold meetings where you can practice speaking in English. You may attend as many meetings as you like each week.
If you would like more help with learning English, Literacy Unlimited in Framingham and the Literacy Volunteers of Worcester can help you find a tutor or an ESL class. Visit Learning English in MetroWest for more additional resources and help in learning to speak in English.
You can also find additional programs, classes and information for English language learners, and information on becoming an US citizen through the Worcester Public Library and the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners.
